ENUGU: PDP suffers setback as Utazi, Ode, Njeze, others defect to APC

It was a Carnival-like atmosphere at the APC secretariat in Enugu on Saturday as the APC State chairman, Barrister Ugochukwu Agballah recieved some decampees from PDP that included Senator Chuka Utazi (Former Senator that represented Enugu North Senatorial district), Ambassador Fidelia Njeze (Former Aviation Minister) Barrister Mrs Adamma Ode ( Former PDP house of Rep aspirant for Udi/Ezeagu Fed constituency) into the APC family. 

An elated Agballah in his speech welcomed the decampees and assured them that their interest will be well protected in APC family. He also informed them that the Party will not tolorate any form of misconduct or corruption, while emphasizing the importance of transparency and integrity in governance. He encouraged the Party Chairmen at the local govt level to engage actively with Party members at the grassroots to enable them market the party to the people. 

The Leader of the Party in Enugu State and minister for innovation, science and technology, Chief Uche Nnaji (Nwakaibeya) called for support for President Tinubu’s administration, saying that the president is committed in developing and transforming all the regions in Nigeria. He also called on the Party members to work very hard for the growth and progress of the Party in Enugu state. 

The APC deputy Chairman South, Chief Emma Eneukwu welcomed the new members and called for other people who have the intention of joining APC to do so immediately as the APC house is too large to accommodate everybody. 

Also speaking at the occasion, the South East APC Vice Chairman, Chief Ijeoma Arodiogbu called for unity of party members in the Zone. He said that once the party is United in the South east, it will be a formidable force, stressing that the party will no longer tolerate Indisipline and Anti party activities. 

Senator Utazi while pledging his loyalty to his new Party said his reason for leaving PDP where he was a foundation member is because the ideals that attracted him to the PDP have since receded into oblivion. And also that the PDP leadership has constantly failed to address the concerns of the Southern part of the country. He said APC is  the party that will afford him ample opportunity to operate maximally and contribute to national development.

Ambassador Njeze on her part pledged her loyalty to the party and promised to work for the good of the Party. 

Barr. Adamma Ode said she left PDP because she identified APC as the Party that has the ideology that is in-tandem with her aspiration. 

The former House of Reps aspirant for Udi/ Ezeagu Federal Constituency maintained that aside being an ideological party, APC has the national spread which would afford opportunity for national cohesion and integration.

She called for Support for President Tinubu’s administration, saying that the President has the capacity to transform Nigeria. 

Others who defected to APC include, Chief Davidson Nnamani, Mrs Princess Oloto, Ambassador Jonathan Eze, Barrister Umunna Ugwu and Felix Ijegalu.
